President Ma Huaide Meets with Vice President of University of Bergen and Her Delegation

In the afternoon of May 30, President Ma Huaide met with the delegation from University of Bergen led by Vice President Annelin Eriksen.

President Ma first extended his welcome to Eriksen for her first visit to CUPL. Then, President Ma briefed the delegation on CUPL, including its history, disciplines, scale, social reputation and international cooperation. He said that the University of Bergen was an "old friend" of our university. The two universities not only cooperated closely in the field of legal education, but also co-built the Confucius Institute in Bergen together. President Ma hoped that the two sides would deepen the existing cooperation and expand collaborative projects in more disciplines apart from law. Vice President Eriksen expressed her gratitude to CUPL for its hospitality. She then introduced the University of Bergen, including its scale, strategic goals, talent training, etc. In particular, she elaborated on the "Bergen University and China 2018-2022 Action Plan" and expressed Bergen’s willingness to cooperate with CUPL to expand cooperation in the field of humanities and social sciences and to boost the exchange programs for staff and students. Subsequently, the two sides exchanged views on subject areas and forms of cooperation of common interests.

Also present at the meeting were Bjørnar Borvik, professor of Faculty of Law at the University of Bergen and Director of the Norwegian China Law Centre, Maria Holme Lidal, Assistant to the Norwegian China Law Centre, Xu Lan, Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office of CUPL, Ren Hongsheng, Vice Dean of the School of Political Science and Public Administration of CUPL, and Lyu Yong, Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, et al.
