CUPL Establishes Partnership with University of Saskatchewan

In the morning of November 9, CUPL President Huang Jin met with Peter Stoicheff, President of the University of Saskatchewan (USask). The two presidents signed the MoU on Academic Cooperation and Exchanges between CUPL and USask, marking the establishment of official cooperation relations between the two universities.

During the meeting, President Huang first extended a warm welcome to Prof. Stoicheff for his first visit to CUPL, and then made a brief introduction about CUPL, including its history, achievements, disciplines as well as the internationalizations strategy. President Huang especially talked about CUPL’s strides towards the “Double First-Tier” initiative and partnerships with Canadian counterparts. President Huang said, CUPL offered China’s premier law programs, as well as programs of distinguished reputation in political science, economics, management, sociology, literature, history, philosophy, education, and programs in science and engineering, and USask was one of Canada’s top research universities. Therefore, President Huang hoped that both sides would have more in-depth cooperation in researches in humanities and social sciences and carry out more diverse exchange programs of both short-term and long-term for faculty and students from the two universities.

President Stoicheff appreciated the warm reception his delegation has received, and briefed about USask’s history, disciplines, enrollment and reputation. President Stoicheff said, it was delighting to partner with CUPL, and the two sides were confident about the prospect of bilateral cooperation.

The two sides also exchanged views on international talents education, development of key disciplines and the potential and opportunities for further cooperation.

In the end, President Huang and President Stoicheff signed the MoU on Academic Cooperation and Exchanges on behalf of the two universities.

Prof. James K.W. Lee, Executive Director of Office of the Vice President (Research), Ms. Liao Leina, International Partnerships Specialist at USask, Prof. Xu Lan, Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, Prof. Huo Zhengxin, Director of the Office of Discipline Development and Director of the Executive Office of “Double First-Tier” Initiative, Prof. Luo Shiqin, Vice Dean of School of Humanities, also attended the meeting.
