Council Chair Hu Ming and His Delegation Visit CUPL Partners in Hong Kong and Macao

From April 11 to 18, 2018, Prof. Hu Ming, CUPL Council Chair, led a delegation to visit CUPL cooperative partners in Hong Kong and Macao.

During the visit in Macao, the delegation changed opinions with Liu Liang, President of Macau University of Science and Technology (MUCT), Kuang Yinghua, Associate Vice President of MUCT, and Fang Quan, Executive Vice Dean of Law School of MUCT, on strengthening friendship and deepening exchange and cooperation in various disciplines between the two universities and etc. Then the two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation.

Accompanied by Song Yonghua, President of University of Macau (UM), Wang Qi, Acting Director of Global Affairs of UM, Tang Xiaoqing, Dean of Law School of UM, and Mo Shijian, Dean of Graduate School of UM, the delegation visited the offices, teaching and research facilities at the Hengqin Campus of UM. Furthermore, the two sides had an in-depth discussion on topics such as enhancing student and faculty exchange and so on.

The Delegation also visited the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government of the P.R.C. in the Macau S.A.R. (LOCPG) and had talks with Councilor Chen Huaqiang, President of Macau Alumni Association of CUPL, Councilor Qiu Tingbiao, Assistant Dean of Law School of UM and other CUPL alumni.

During the visit in Hong Kong, accompanied by Board Chairman Du Mao, the delegation visited the office of China Legal Service (H.K.) LTD. and had cordial talks with some alumni working there. Then, the delegation held a meeting with some senior members of China Legal Service (H.K.) LTD, including Du Mao, Board Chairman, Guo Jianan, Deputy Board Chairman and General Manager. The two sides exchanged opinions on further expanding cooperation and signed a Letter of Intent on Strategic Cooperation between China University of Political Science and Law and China legal Service (H.K.) Ltd. The two sides also reached consensus on talent training, scientific research, legal training, etc.

The delegation talked with Qu Jiefang, Vice President of The University of Hong Kong (HKU), Huang Yiqing, Assistant Vice-president, Fu Hualing, Vice Dean of Law School, Zhao Yun, Director of Law Department and other representatives of HKU. The two sides exchanged views on various topics, such as joint interdisciplinary research, exchange of teachers and students, and double degree programs. CUPL and HKU also reached an agreement on the establishment of the Centre for Comparative Justice and Culture of the Rule of Law.

The delegation was invited to attend the inauguration ceremony of President Duan Chongzhi of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). Then, the delegation exchange views with Christopher Gane, Dean of Law School of CUHK, on developing science research, teachers’ visit and degree program, through various platforms and strategies such as the “Double First-Rate” strategy and the Legal Education Union of the Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao.

During the stay in Hong Kong, the delegation also visited the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government of the P.R.C. in the Hong Kong S.A.R., The Legal Education Fund Ltd. of Hong Kong and Huang Tingfang Charitable Foundation. The delegation also had talks with Li Weibin, President of Hong Kong Alumni Association of CUPL, and other alumni in Hong Kong.

This visit further strengthens communication between our school and universities and related institutions in Hong Kong and Macao, which plays an positive and far-reaching role in promoting “Double First-Rate” construction, advancing connotative development, integrating high quality educational resources and supporting the training of high-level talents majoring in law in mainland, Hong Kong and Macao.

Li Shuguang, Dean of Graduate School, Jiao Hongchang, Dean of Law School, Wu Biao, Director of Office of Domestic Cooperation, Xu Lan, Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office, and Zhang Yuchen, Chief of the Exchange Affairs Division of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office accompanied Council Chair Hu during the visit.
