CUPL Delegation Led by President Huang Jin Visits High-Profile Universities in Russia, Poland and Hungary

Between June 5 and 12, 2017, CUPL delegation led by Professor Huang Jin, President of CUPL, was invited to visit several famous universities in Russia, Poland and Hungary and signed 7 cooperation agreements. The purpose of this visit was to strengthen and expand international exchanges and cooperation with high-profile universities along the "Belt and Road" in Central and Eastern Europe, and to enpand the international academic influence of CUPL.

In Russia, the delegation visited the Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU), National Research University - Higher School of Economics (HSE), Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation (Financial University) and St. Petersburg University (SPBU). At MSU, President Huang signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation after meeting with Khokhlov Alexey, Yuri A. Mazei and Sergey M. Shakhrai, three Vice-Presidents of MSU, formally establishing the cooperation relationship between the two universities. On this basis, they also reached a cooperation agreement between the Law School of CUPL and the School of State Audit in MSU. At HSE, the delegation met with Ivan Prostakov, Vice President of HSE other faculty, and signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Academic Cooperation. At the Financial University, President Huang and President Mukhadin Eskindarov expressed their willingness to cooperate in the fields of law and economics during the meeting and signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation and the Agreement on Academic Exchanges. At SPBU, President Huang and Vice-President S. V. Andryushin stressed the task to update and implement the existing Cooperation Framework Agreement between the two universities based on the new situation.

In Poland, the delegation visited the University of Warsaw (UW). During the meeting, President Huang and President Recotr Duszczyk affirmed the achievement of cooperation in law, and spoke highly of the "Beijing-Warsaw University Student Forum" jointly held by the Law Schools of CUPL and UW. In particular, the two sides had an in-depth discussion on programs, such as the cooperation to establish the Confucius Institute at UW and the China-Poland Law and Economic Research Center at CUPL, and reached a preliminary agreement. After that, and accompanied by Dean T. Giaro and other staff, President Huang and the delegation visited the Faculty of Law and the Chinese Department of UW.

In Hungary, the delegation met with the faculties of the Etvs Lornd Tudomnyegyetem (ELTE) and the Central European University (CEU). Imre Hamar, the designate Vice-President and Foreign Co-Director of the Confucius Institute, and Dean of Faculty of Law of ELTE and other staff introduced the relevant situation of the university, showed interests in further cooperation in the field of law and expressed the willingness to cooperate on specific projects. During the meeting, the two sides reached a consensus on academic cooperation on Marxism, Chinese traditional culture, studies on the "Belt and Road" Initiative and others. After that, the delegation visited the Faculty of Law of ELTE and the Confucius Institute. At CEU, President Huang and Liviu Matei, the Vice President and Provost, had a meeting and signed the Interscholastic Letter of Intent and Agreement on the Student Exchange Project.

During the visit, the delegation also met with Duan Jielong, Chinese Ambassador to Hungary, and Zhao Guocheng, Minister-Counsellor of Education in Chinese Embassy to Russia.
