On the evening of October 26, 2016, the final round and the award and closing ceremony of the First International Debate Contest in Chinese for University Students, hosted by CUPL, were successfully held at the hall of the Changping Campus.
The final round was hosted by by Sha Chen, host of CCTV. Gao Ce, the second debater (con) from Peking University was awarded the best debater prize for the final round and the whole contest. The winner of the last round was the proposition side from Soochow University (SCU).
From October 20 to 26, thirty-two teams both home and abroad participated in the contest, including Xi'an Jiaotong University, Chinese University of Hong Kong, University of Liverpool and so on. The contest helped to promote the exchange among students across the globe. On the evening of October 26 with the award ceremony, the 1st International Debate Contest in Chinese for University Students came to a successful conclusion.
