On May 27 (local time), the Chinese embassy in Barbados held the celebration ceremony for the first anniversary of the Confucius Institute at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill, Barbados(UWI, Cave Hill). Wang Ke, Chinese Ambassador to Barbados, Zhu Songhua, Political Counselor, and Prof. SongQingbao, Chinese Co-Director of the CI at Barbados, Mr. Francois Jackman, foreign Co-Director, Mr.Che Corbin, former foreign director and all the Chinese staff of the CI at Barbados, participated in this activity.
During the ceremony, Ambassador Wang Ke first congratulated the CI at Barbados on its first anniversary. She also praised the CI at Barbados for its contributions in promoting the Chinese language and facilitating cultural exchanges between China and Barbados. Wang stated that she would continue to support the work of the CI and congratulated it for successfully holding the qualification contest of the "Chinese Bridge" Competition. Ambassador Wang expressed high expectations and discussed the future work of the CI with the Chinese and foreign directors. She encouraged the CI to organize more cultural activities and train more talents in order to facilitate communication between China and Barbados and to expand the international influence of the CI.
