On the afternoon of October 30, 2015, at Xueyuanlu Campus, CUPL Council Chairman Prof. Shi Yajun met with Prof. Kiyoshi MORITA, the President of Okayama University (OU) and his two colleagues.

Chairman Shi expressed his warm welcome to the delegation of Okayama University and recalled the delightful conversation between them two years ago. Shi showed his appreciation of the thorough implementation of cooperative agreements concluded by the two sides in the previous years and hailed the interscholastic cooperation agreement to be soon signed between them. He introduced basic information on the CUPL 2011 Collaborative Innovation Center to our guests and indicated that the proposed bilateral cooperation in the field of forensic science is essentially an alliance between the giants since OU is the leading authority of that area in Japan. Chairman Shi also expressed his hope that the interscholastic cooperation agreement to be signed by the two parties would not only be a contribution to the innovation of forensic science on the international level, but also be a boost for the development of evidence law studies in CUPL.

Prof. Kiyoshi MORITA mentioned that it was his great honor to visit CUPL. He completely agreed with Chairman Shi on the latter’s praise of their fruitful teamwork. He indicated that he would vigorously push forward the cooperation between OU and CUPL in certain areas of which they share a common interest, such as jurisprudence, the forensic science, philosophy, political science and economics. These shared interests could be promoted in joint scientific research, exchange of students, etc. Prof. MORITA also took the chance to express his feelings and impressions after he saw the exhibition of “Chinese Dream & Masters of the Last Centennial Era” on our campus. He especially mentioned that the former Sixth Institution of Higher Learning (the present OU) was the alma mater of Mr. Guo Moruo (a late Chinese iconic litterateur) and the inscription of Mr. Guo was still on the wall of the President's Office, which vividly demonstrated the close link between OU and China. Finally, Prof. MORITA invited Chairman Shi to pay a visit to OU at his convenience.

After the meeting, the two sides inked the Memorandum of Understanding Between CUPL and OU on Interscholastic Cooperation.
