The English monograph of Prof. Gao Xiang, Dean of the CUPL College of Comparative Law, titled ‘The Fraud Rule in the Law of Letters of Credit Comparative Study’ (published by Kluwer Law International in December 2012; London), was cited twice by the Supreme Court of the State of New York in the judgment of the following case: Fortis Bank (Nederland) v. Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (32 Misc.3d 1232(A); 936 N.Y.S.2d 58; 2010 N.Y. Misc. LEXIS 6658; 2010 NY Slip Op 52415(U)). The first citation was Prof. Gao Xiang’s discussion on the definition of the fraud exception concerning letters of credit. The second citation was his explanatory commentary as to the independent principle of letters of credit.
