From November 19 to 22, 2013, the 11th “CIETAC Cup” International Commercial Arbitration Moot & WILLEM C.VIS Moot International Selective Trials (in full English) was held in Beijing. After climbing its way through the first two days’ fierce competition, CUPL team emerged as one of 8 teams that qualified for the quarterfinals through outstanding performances in the round robin matches. Eventually our varsity team took the fifth place in the contest. CUPL student contestant Huang Tingli won an Outstanding Contribution Award.
The “CIETAC Cup” International Commercial Arbitration Moot, organized by China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC for short), is an annual contest in the field of Arbitration law accessible to all law schools across Mainland China. This year’s event drew more teams than previous years. A total of 29 teams selected and sent by colleges and universities took part in the competition, including varsity teams from Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, University of International Business and Economics, Wuhan University and so forth.
