

On the morning of March 19, 2013, President Huang Jin was invited to visit Hanban (Confucius Institute Headquarters), and consulted with the University of Bucharest (UB) about the arrangement of co-establishing a Confucius Institute. Shortly afterward, President Huang attended the signing ceremony between UB and Confucius Institute Headquarters.
During the aforesaid trilateral talks, Ms. Xu Lin, Director-General of Hanban and Chief Executive of Confucius Institute Headquarters, spoke highly of the significance of the forthcoming establishment of a Confucius Institute at UB. Mircea Dumitru, President of the UB, introduced UB’s overall resources and programs, such as teaching, research, faculty, and foreign exchanges in detail. He expressed his confidence that establishing a Confucius Institute at UB would be a success and said he looked forward to cooperation between UB and CUPL on the Confucius Institute Program.
President Huang congratulated the successful cooperation between UB and Confucius Institute Headquarters on behalf of CUPL. He indicated that the two universities will come to an agreement on the specific details of establishing the Confucius Institute as soon as possible. The Confucius Institute of UB will be integrated into an organic entity characterized by basic Chinese teaching, academic research, and a distinguishing feature of legal studies. The Institute will become an important platform for exchanges not only between the two universities, but the two countries as well. He also suggested that both sides should conduct further cooperation in wide-ranging areas, such as discipline construction, student and academic exchange, etc.
