On the morning of September 20, 2012, at Changping Campus, the ceremony for awarding Liu Huangfa the honorary doctorate degree was held at Liu Huangfa Conference Hall. CUPL President Huang Jin attended the ceremony and awarded Liu the honorary doctorate degree. CUPL Vice President Ma Huaide presided over the ceremony.
While Liu Huangfa was born in Hong Kong, his ancestral home is in Guangdong. He is a CPPCC National Committee member and a member of the Legislative Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Liu has been reelected as the president of Heung Yee Kuk New Territories for years, and was once awarded the Gold Bauhinia Star (GBS).
