February 22, 2012, marked the Tibetan New Year—the Year of the Water Dragon. On that day, a symposium was held on
CUPL’s Changping Campus to commemorate the event. Attendees included CUPL School Council Vice Chairperson
Feng Shiyong, various college and department persons, and 20 Tibetan student representatives.
Feng Shiyong extended warm greetings to Tibetan students, telling attendees that CUPL is a large family consisting of students
from 37 minority nationalities—and where Tibetan students are permanent members. Currently, CUPL has
103 Tibetan students from 6 provinces studying at 10 colleges, including: 96 undergraduates, 4 postgraduates,
and 3 doctoral degree candidates. Feng encouraged Tibetan students to make the most of their studies
and campus experiences so that they could make great contributions to the Tibet Autonomous Region and the country.
During the symposium, Tibetan student representatives gave "hada" to every guest to express their respect and gratitude.
Feng Shiyong gave festival subsidies and posed for photographs with Tibetan students.
