On March 7, 2012, in celebration of CUPL’s 60th Anniversary, a forum titled "Radical Collaboration" was held at Xueyuan Lu Campus.
Professor Jim Tamm—a former California Court Administrative Law Senior Judge and the current member of Leadership Institute of the University of California Santa Cruz Branch Campus—delivered a speech about radical collaboration. CUPL Business School Professor Zhang Shujing and China Economic Press Copy Editor Li Yuping also offered commentary on the subject. During the lecture, ProfessorTamm focused his speech on the following topics: the 12 pillars of competitiveness, 5 basic skills in building cooperation environment and relations, solutions to issues based on interests, cultural differences in the relationship between employees and employers, and emergency plans when agreements fail to materialize. Professor Tamm shared research findings from University of California, Berkeley Branch Campus and data from California’s (State Government) public employment committee. To further demonstrate his point, Professor Tamm divided the audience into groups and guided them to join in “thumb wrestling.” The speech provided insight on how to improve communication skills, foster cooperation, and build successful relationships.
