Prof. Zhang was born in Shenyang, Liaoning Province in 1930. As chief architect of China's legal history studies, he helped establish the status of legal history as a national key discipline. Professor Zhang has published over 100 articles and has edited renowned legal history textbooks. Many of his academic works have been translated into other languages, such as English, Japanese, and Korean, and published in foreign academic journals, book chapters and conference proceedings.
