The Third CUPLers' Marathon Successfully Held


On the morning of May 9, 2021, the third CUPLers' Marathon and “My Youth CUPL” 69th CUPL Anniversary Celebration Run was held at the Changping campus of China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL). The competition attracted more than 800 participants. Running at the campus altogether, CUPLers carried forward the spirit of CUPL, and expressed their love and wishes to their alma mater. Council Chair Hu Ming, President Ma Huaide, Vice Presidents Feng Shiyong, Li Shuangchen, and Li Xiuyun, Vice Council Chair Wang Liyan, as well as Dai Zhiyong, representative of outstanding alumni and Director of Beijing Lianggao Law Firm, attended the opening ceremony. The event was moderated by Jia Haixiang, member of the Sports Committee and Director of the Physical Education Department of CUPL.

President Ma Huaide sent his sincere wishes to all the participating athletes and extended his heartfelt gratitude to the faculty and students who organized the competitions, as well as his warm appreciation to the alumni who provided sponsorship. He addressed that the purpose of the third CUPLers’ Marathon and “My Youth CUPL” 69th CUPL Anniversary Celebration Run was to raise the awareness of “Health First”, and to encourage faculty and students to exercise actively and enhance their physical fitness.

At 9:30 a.m., with the starting pistol blasted, the participants of the two competitions set off. They were of different ages and from various professions, but all in high spirits. Some of the athletes ran fast and led the way, showing their capacity, agility, and vigor. Others took steady steps and persisted in the way to the end. The campus track is not only a stage for athletes’ passion and vigor, but also a memorandum for the youth of every participant in CUPL.

The enthusiastic and considerate service of volunteers, security personnel and medical personnel ensured smoothness and security of the competitions. The track was lined with students waving cheering sticks, holding signs of “Run, CUPLERS!” and cheering for athletes.

Amidst their cheers, Yang Ping from the School of Political Science and Public Administration was the first to cross the finishing line of “My Youth CUPL” 69th CUPL Anniversary Celebration Run. In the third CUPLers’ Marathon, alumni Zhao Bing and Jin Yi were the champions of the Faculty & Alumni Men's Group and the Faculty & Alumni Women's Group respectively. Lin Zhiyuan from the School of Criminal Justice, Zan Yinhe from the Civil, Commercial and Law School were the champions of Student Men's Group, and Student Women's Group respectively. In the “My Youth CUPL” 69th CUPL Anniversary Celebration Run, Cai Wenting from the Civil, Commercial and Law School, and Yang Ping were the champions of Women’s Group and Men’s Group respectively.

The CUPLers' Marathon is a 10.55-kilometer Quarter Marathon. CUPL students, faculty and alumni could sign for the marathon. The 69th CUPL Anniversary Celebration Run, participated by CUPL students, is a 6.5-kilometer run, covering 4 laps around the designated route on the campus. This year, the two events were held simultaneously, attracting nearly 800 students, faculty and alumni. Among them, more than 300 participated in the CUPLers’ Marathon and more than 500 took part in the Anniversary Celebration Run.
