Exhibition of Li Xiwen and Qi Zhirui's Painting and Calligraphy Works for the 70th Anniversary Celebration of CUPL


On the morning of May 28, the Exhibition of Li Xiwen and Qi Zhirui's Painting and Calligraphy Works was unveiled in the Changping Campus of China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL). Council Chair Hu Ming and Vice President Feng Shiyong attended the event. Heads of relevant administrative offices, representatives of Beijing Fushengxuan Media Co., Ltd. and some teachers and students attended the event. The ceremony was presided over by Meng Qingchao, Vice Chair of the Labor Union of CUPL. The exhibition was sponsored by the Party Committee Organization Department, the Party Committee Communication Department, the Labor Union, and the Office of Retiree Services of CUPL.

Li Xiwen is the former Vice-Chair of CUPL Labor Union and a well-known calligrapher; Qi Zhirui is an Associate Professor in the School of Humanities of CUPL and a well-known painter. The two retired teachers have a good collaborative relation in the calligraphy association of CUPL for many years. The exhibition showcases 46 painting and calligraphy works, including 34 by Li Xiwen and 12 by Qi Zhirui. Through calligraphy and painting works, the two senior artists of CUPL offered their best wishes for the centennial of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the 70th birthday of CUPL.

On behalf of the university, Hu Ming expressed his heartfelt thanks to the two teachers, Li Xiwen and Qi Zhirui, for their contributions to CUPL. Feng Shiyong said in his speech that the exhibition embodied the love of the two artists toward China, the CPC and CUPL. The exhibition is an important part of the series of activities to celebrate the centennial of the founding of the CPC. It also exerted positive influence on CUPL’s fundamental task of morality education and on the all-round development of students.

Witnessed by the attendees, Li Xiwen donated his work “Magnificent Mountains and Rivers”, a joint piece of art by Li and Qi, to CUPL. Hu Ming and Feng Shiyong accepted the donation on behalf of CUPL. Li said that he will donate all the works in the exhibition to CUPL. He also said that he will donate another 36 works to CUPL in the future. A total of 70 works will be donated by him to CUPL before the 70th anniversary celebration.
