70-Day countdown to CUPL's 70th Birthday


On the morning of March 7th, China University of Political Science and Laws (CUPL) celebrated the 70-day countdown to its 70th birthday. The countdown celebration marked the prelude to the grand birthday celebration, during which the birthday preparations in the past year were reviewed, the mascot of the 70th birthday launched, the flag handover ceremony were held for the volunteer faculty and students, and alumni and friends who have made great contributions to CUPL as well as collectives and individuals who have been committed to national strategy and school deployment were commended. CUPL's leaders, CUPL Board Member Guo Junqin who is also Executive Vice President of the China Federation of Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs, President of the Beijing Chinese Business Association, and alumni representatives who have sent donations to CUPL, as well as heads of administrative offices and schools of CUPL, and volunteer representatives attended the countdown celebration. The celebration was presided over by Feng Shiyong, Vice President of CUPL.

Vice President Feng Shiyong introduced the preparations for CUPL's 70th birthday. He acknowledged all the staff and students of CUPL who have been working hard for the preparation, and alumni and friends for their generous support. Preparations for the multiple themed activities during the grand 70th birthday celebration such as academic, cultural and alumni events have been making sound and steady progress. He made a promise that in the next 70 days, CUPL would continue to ensure the preparations for the birthday would be carried out effectively and efficiently, to meet the expectations of all the teachers, students, alumni, and friends.

Mascot Tuo Tuo makes its debut

Vice President Li Xiuyun launched the mascot Tuo Tuo, which is modeled after Tuohuangniu (the Pioneering Ox), a cultural landscape at the Changping Campus of CUPL. It embodies CUPL's pioneering and hard-working spirit as well as all CUPLers' best wishes and blessings to the 70th birthday of CUPL.

The effective preparations for the birthday celebration were attributed to the active and extensive participation of CUPL's teachers and students. So far, the volunteer team of teachers and students for the 70th birthday has already taken shape. In recognition of their contribution, Gang Wenzhe and Gao Huanyue, Vice Chairs of the University Council awarded flags to the representatives of the volunteer team.

At the donor recognition ceremony, President Ma Huaide presented honorary certificates to alumni representatives for outstanding contributions and donations to CUPL, including donors who committed funds for infrastructures and classroom projects. CUPL Council Chair Hu Ming presented awards to outstanding collectives and individuals for fund-raising and partnership assistance for CUPL during 2020 and 2021. Council Chair Hu Ming and President Ma Huaide jointly presented the Special Contribution Donor Awards.

President Ma Huaide, on behalf of CUPL, expressed his deep gratitude to the teachers, students and alumni who have worked hard to prepare for the 70th birthday, and extended sincere thanks to friends from all walks of life who had made significant contributions to CUPL's development. He put forward four specific requirements for CUPL's 70th birthday: First, staff and faculty members should sum up the experience in running a university and think about how to improve the quality of legal talent cultivation. Second, uphold ideological and academic achievements as top priorities. Third, evaluate and carry forward the precious intellectual assets of CUPL. Forth, engage more teachers, students and alumni, and friends in CUPL's 70th birthday celebration.

President Ma Huaide stressed that the 70th birthday celebration was an arduous task that entailed great responsibility and profound impact. And he hoped that everybody could participate in this event to make CUPL's 70th birthday a memorable, insightful, and illuminating event that will be a lasting booster of CUPL's contribution to societal development, academic endeavor, and friendship with all CUPLers and friends.
