In the evening of November 15 (local time), the “Guyanese Culture Festival” organized by the Student Union of University of the West Indies (UWI), Cave Hill was held successfully. Over 100 faculty members and students of UWI participated in the festival, and the CI was also invited to present on Chinese culture.

Guyana is a nation of immigrants. This festival, through the displaying of clothes, dances, songs, religions, food and other aspects of life from 6 nations including China, was a vivid demonstration of the cultural communication and integration among different cultures. During the festival, Zhou Xiaorui and Zhang Xuejing, two volunteer teachers from the CI, bought traditional Chinese Knots, Chinese Fans, and Cheongsam (a traditional Chinese costume) for the participants. They also performed folk dances for the audience and were praised with warm rounds of applause. This festival deepened the participants’ knowledge of Chinese culture.
