Published:2016-02-29

At 6 o’clock of this February 25 (Romania local time), a brilliantly illuminated Lantern Festival party to mark the arrival of the Monkey New Year was held in the auditorium of the Faculty of Law at the University of Bucharest (UB) by the Confucius Institute affiliated to that University (CI at UB). Over 400 people watched the performance. Ms. Anca Pegulescu, the representative of the Romanian Ministry of Education & Scientific Research, Mr. Deng Liming, Head of the Education Section of the Embassy of China in Romania, Prof. Laurentiu Vlad, UB Prorector, Chinese and Romanian Co-Directors of the CI at UB, representatives from Romanian circles of politics, economy, culture and education as well as local citizens and students attended the party.

The show was performed in a lively and friendly atmosphere. Students from the CI at UB, Chinese classes operated by the CI at UB and Confucius classrooms in other regions of Romania, as well as students who majored in Chinese at the UB Faculty of Foreign Languages & Literature jointly staged a wonderful performance for the audience. The auditorium became even more festive with the specially-designed “Lucky Draw”, where prize winners joyously received exquisite little gifts with unique Chinese flavors.

After the performance, all attendees got together and had a bite of delicious traditional Chinese food prepared by the organizers. The feast of eyes and the feast of Chinese cuisine truly immersed the participants into the jubilant atmosphere of the Chinese festival.
