Published:2015-05-12

On April 27, 2015, the Confucius Institute at the University of Bucharest (CI at UB) held an opening ceremony for its Chinese course offered in Bucharest’s No.88 Middle School (also known as Shanghai School).

Chinese ambassador to Romania, Mr. Xu Feihong, and his wife attended this unveiling ceremony.

Accompanied by administrators of No.88 Middle School, Ambassador Xu Feihong and his party first visited several classrooms designed for the upcoming Chinese classes, and then watched Chinese song performances (e.g. “Two Tigers” and “Open the door,Little Bunnies”) staged by a group of lovely children. After that, Mr. Xu Feihong had an informal discussion with all the persons present at the site.

As for teaching Chinese as a foreign language, Ambassador Xu put forward two suggestions: one is to offer related courses on Chinese culture, which would effectively increase students’ interests in learning that ancient language; and, secondly, to create favorable conditions and for helping Chinese-learning students to put their knowledge into daily practice.
