In Romania, every March is referred to as the “Women’s Month”. On March 23, 2015, the Confucius Institute at the University of Bucharest (CI at UB) held a performance themed “Tea Art from the East” for the local ladies, at the meeting room of that Institute.
Ms. Tan Yvxiu, wife of Chinese ambassador to Romania, and the wives of other Chinese diplomats in that Embassy, and also the wife of the UB Rector and the wives of its faculty members gathered for this ceremony. In addition, Romanian congress women and local representatives from all walks of life also attended this Tea Art Show.
At the beginning, the performer of the tea show briefed the distinguished guests on certain basic knowledge of Chinese Tea such as its history, classification and processing ways by using multimedia personal computer. Then the teaching staff, wearing traditional Chinese cheongsam, gracefully staged the Tieh-Kuan-Yin Tea Ceremony. This classical and elegant performance was truly a bounteous feast for the eyes of the audience, and won rounds of cheers and applause from the spectators. Later, the guests personally experienced the whole process of tea show (appreciating tea, making tea and drinking tea) under the guidance of those professionals from CI at UB.
The Arabic Cultural Center of Romania also took part in this activity as the cooperating institution, giving an introduction to the dignitaries on the venue on tea culture of Arabic countries. Those distinguished guests also enjoyed a rare chance to taste the unique flavor of Moroccan traditional tea.
As Prof. Luminita Balan, Romanian Co-Director of CI at UB, mentioned in her speech, CI at UB has always committed itself to the people-to-people culture exchange between China and Romania since its establishment. She hoped that more and more Romanians could get valuable information of Chinese tea and enjoy its unique taste and fragrance through activities like this.
