Published:2015-03-16

On February 19, 2015, at the beginning of the Chinese Spring Festival marking the start of the Yearof the Sheep, Mr. Xu Feihong, Chinese Ambassador to Romania, with his wife, Mrs. Tan Yuxiu, paid a visit to the Confucius Institute at University of Bucharest (CI at UB). They were accompanied in their visit by Mr. Bian Zhengdong, the Head of the Education Section of the Chinese Embassy. These distinguished guests wished everybody in CI at UB a Happy Lunar New Year.

After Prof. Luminita Baila and Prof. Xue Xiaojian, the Romanian and Chinese Co-Directors of CI at UB, showed the Ambassador, his wife, and their party around the Institute, Mr. Xu Feihong had a cordial talk with faculty members in the meeting room of CI at UB. During the talk, the Ambassador spoke highly of the achievements CI at UB has made since its establishment over one year ago, and he encouraged all the teaching staff to improve their professionalism to be better envoys of Chinese culture in the local community.

After that, Mr. Xu Feihong wrote the following in the guestbook: “The Confucius Institute at University of Bucharest has done a great job in promoting Chinese language teaching and popularizing Chinese culture. I wish it can make greater progress in the Year of the Sheep.” The teachers of that Institute firmly replied that they would work even harder to live up to the expectations of the Ambassador and the Motherland.
