In September 2014, the art troupe from China University of Geosciences (CUG) paid a visit to Eastern Europe, starting their performance tour in Bulgaria, Romania and Serbia. The trip was sponsored by The Office of Chinese Language Council International (Hanban). Singing and dancing joyously all the way, the art troupe travelled from Bulgaria to Bucharest, the capital of Romania.
On 30 September, in the concert hall of the University of Bucharest (UB), they staged an unusually brilliant show for the locals. Wonderful performances and lively interactions set the audience’s passion aflame. The whole time, the spectators were bursting into thunderous applause. When it was almost over, the audience gave the art troupe a standing ovation. The show ended in deafening applause.
The Confucius Institute (CI) at University of Bucharest (UB), led by its two co-directors, Prof. Xue Xiaojian, and Prof. Luminita Baila, assisted the performance by finding a suitable performing venue and providing manpower and materials as best as they could.
Thanks to full cooperation between CUG Art Troupe and CI at UB, the show not only went off successfully, but also spread splendid Chinese culture among the audience, helping the Bucharest people better understand China’s excellent traditional culture and love it even more and kindling their passion for learning Chinese.
