On April 4, 2014, an entirely new sort of lecture on Chinese plants was held at Treborth Botanic Garden, the biggest botanical garden of North Wales. The lecture was a warm-up for the Chinese Garden Project of the Confucius Institute. It was jointly organized by the Confucius Institute at Bangor University and the School of Environment, Natural Resources and Geography (SENRG) at that University. The speakers introduced the characteristics of Chinese plants, the project of Xishuangbanna Botanical Garden, the plan of building a Chinese garden at Treborth Botanic Garden, amongst other things, to enthusiasts from the local community. Dr. Sophie Williams, lecturer in Conservation of the SENRG, presided at the lecture.
