On the afternoon of April 5, 2014, all the faculty members of the Confucius Institute at University of Bucharest (UB) co-organized the Chinese Culture Day activities with the head of AISECE (Association Internationale des Etudiants en Sciences Economiques et Commerciales) Bucharest. Approximately 40 students were in attendance of the event.
To begin the event, the teaching staff of the Confucius Institute showed the visiting students around the Institute, which was followed by a demonstration of an exemplary form of Chinese cultural heritage----the art of paper cutting. Under the teachers’ guidance, the students personally experienced the great fun of paper cutting. Additionally, Charles Ai, head of AISECE Bucharest, also gave the spectators a superb demonstration of Chinese martial arts. Quite a few male students even began to imitate his movements on the spot. The last activity was to learn to cook Chinese dishes. After a little effort, the participants successfully mastered some simple Chinese home-cooked food such as stir-fried scrambled egg with tomatoes, and a stew of chicken chunks braised with potato cubes. The dishes were both aromatic and aesthetically pleasing, and had the spectators' mouths watering.
Before everybody knew it, the activities were drawing to an end. Those in attendance were initially reluctant to leave, as for many of them three hours were only long enough to give them a brief taste of Chinese culture and left the participants eager for more. The Confucius Institute promised that it would hold more Chinese culture experiencing activities for them in the days to come.
