The Confucius Institute Co-established by UB and CUPL Successfully Convenes the Board Meeting and Holds the China-Romania Forum

On the morning of November 25, 2013, the Confucius Institute (CI) Bucharest, co-founded by University of Bucharest (UB) and China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL), held its first Board Meeting. President Huang Jin together with Chinese members of the Board attended the meeting. The Romanian participants included UB Rector Mircea Dumitru and the Romanian members of the Board.

The discussions of the Board Meeting centered on some concrete matters, such as the matters of financing, human resources, administration, the selection and appointment of Chinese teachers and volunteers working in that institute, as well as the blueprint for the development of that CI in the next five years, etc. The two sides reached a consensus on all the matters listed above in a spirit of sincere cooperation.

The first session of the China-Romania Forum, as a part of the scheduled activities of the CI’s opening ceremony, was held on the afternoon of the same day at UB. President Huang Jin, while presiding over this CI organized forum, praised it not only as a high-level academic conference, but also for initiating an academic dialogue among the top experts in different fields between China and Romania. Huang Jin stated it was a long-term undertaking to promote the academic exchange and dialogue between the two countries on the platform of the CI, it shall require the continuous and diligent efforts of all parties to realise this goal.
