Bangor University Confucius Institute offers Summer School Scholarship for Our Students
Published:2013-06-24

Starting this June onward, the Confucius Institute of Bangor University will begin providing financial aid under a newly established “Legal Thinking Scholarship”. The scholarship will subsidize CUPL students participating in the two-week Summer School Program. The number of qualified students and the amount of money granted will vary according to the annual operating situation and needs of the program. This year the Confucius Institute of Bangor University will provide 980 Pounds for each CUPL student who enrolls in the Summer School Program.

The Confucius Institute of Bangor University is the first Confucius Institute in the world with distinctive legal culture flavor. With vigorous support from the two universities and joint efforts from the Co-Directors it has achieved rapid development. Two fields in particular have seen impressive expansion: The number of students enrolled has jumped from the initial 5 up to over 40, and the office area has increased from the original 20 square meters to 330 square meters. It also hosted Chinese Culture Week and the Culture Lecture, held China Legal Forums, as well as organized public service activities in local middle, primary and disabled schools. These activities have attracted attention and been reported by mainstream British media such as the BBC and Welsh Post.

The Institute will continue to expand its areas of cooperation, seek multilateral-cooperation, and gradually transform the non-academic education into an academic one.
