Matthew Henry Jellicoe is a veteran contestant of the UK ‘Chinese Bridge’ Competition on behalf of the Confucius Institute at Bangor University. This year marks the 12th year that the competition has been held and he won the prize of ‘Best Translator’ in the Chinese to English translation contest under ‘University Challenge’. The prize was awarded after a pan-European translation competition, which is sponsored by Veritas Language Solutions.

After intense competition, 13 students emerged as the prize winners. Majoring in German, Jellicoe has considerably benefited from the one-on-one Chinese course and the Chinese listening, speaking, reading and writing practices offered by the Confucius Institute.
