Guo Shengkun, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Secretary of the Committee of Political and Legal Affairs of the CPC Central Committee, and Director of the Rule of Law Office of the CPC Central Committee, stressed during his visit to China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) on June 10, that we should take Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as guidance for studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law as well as the important speech made by General Secretary Xi during his visit to CUPL. In addition, we should keep in mind the “four consciousnesses”: being always conscious of political correctness, of the broader picture, of the core leadership, and of staying aligned with the core; the “four matters of confidence”: having confidence in the chosen path, guiding theories, political system of the Party, and above all in China’s culture; and the “two upholds”: upholding General Secretary Xi Jinping’s core position on the CPC Central Committee and in the Party as a whole, and upholding the Central Committee’s authority and its centralized, unified leadership. Guo called on CUPL to take coordinated steps in theoretical research, legal education, cultivation of legal talents and other assignments and take initiatives in leading the study and popularization of Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law, thus contributing more wisdom and strength to promoting law-based governance in the new era.
Guo Shengkun visited the exhibition on CUPL’s achievements in learning and implementing the spirit of the important speech made by General Secretary Xi Jinping at CUPL. He also visited the exhibition of the university’s history and held talks with teachers, students and alumni representatives of the legal profession.
After communication with CUPLers, Guo Shengkun pointed out that since its establishment 70 years ago, CUPL had cultivated a large number of legal talents and had made a positive contribution to the cause of the Party and State, in particular to the advancement of the socialist rule-of-law. Over the past five years, while implementing the spirit of the important speech made by General Secretary Xi Jinping, CUPL entered a new stage.
Guo Shengkun pointed out that Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law is the fundamental guidance to promote the rule of law in the new era. He stressed the need to think locally in promoting major theoretical and practical researches concerning the advancement of the rule of law in the new era, and in developing a deeper understanding of the rules guiding the advancement of the socialist rule of law with Chinese characteristics. Finally, he called for more theoretical breakthroughs in researches concerning socialism with Chinese characteristics.
